Violent dreams, and shattered souls
Beautiful demons without remorse

A cold heart and a vicious touch
Who is a monster, and who is not?

Lies.
Secrets.
Tragedies.

Skylar thought she had seen it all—monsters with pretty faces, friends with terrible secrets and lives filled with beautiful lies.
But she was wrong.

In Winworth, nothing was as it seemed.

Not The Order ruling over the sleepy little town she grew up in.
Not the wicked strangers that began pouring into Winworth out of nowhere.
And certainly not the people she thought she knew.

As the masks started falling, she could now see the true depravity crawling through the streets.

Torn between the two worlds—between the two men—she had to decide.
Was she going to cling to the past, or run for the future?

Or was she going to let monsters decide her destiny?

TEMPTATION is Book Two in the Secrets of Winworth series, dealing with dark themes that might not be suitable for all readers. It is recommended only for readers above the age of 18.

L.K. Reid

L.K. Reid is a dark romance author who hates slow walkers and people being mean for no reason. She lives with her two cats, Freya and Athena, and she’s still figuring out the whole “adult” thingy.

In her opinion, Halloween should be a public holiday, and she also has a small obsession with all things historical—especially Greek mythology. During high school, she wanted to be an archaeologist, and ended up studying law, but obviously neither one of those professions worked out.

If she isn’t writing, she’s most probably watching horror movies, listening to music, reading, or plotting upcoming books.

The anticipation of awaiting release day for this after falling down the previous books cliffy was brutal. This series so far is sick, twisted and has more bumps and turns than a roller coaster.
More secrets uncovered, more suspense thrown in, even though this wasn’t as dark as the previous book it still had me inhaling the pages.
And for good measure we’re thrown head first over another cliffy this one more deadly than the other.

*** 3.5 stars ***

I was not fond of this sequel as much as the first book.
The plot took too many different directions and I don't particularly appreciate it when that happens.
I feel sidetracked by the addition of the motorcycle club to the story. It's become a solid event taking over the plot and I'm not a fan of that turn. We have Russian mafia Vs MC Club vs The Order Vs the kids.
I was also annoyed by a few things that could be plot holes, such as
On top of all that, I couldn't feel any connection between Dylan and Ash.

OMG 🤯🤯
I could never guessed Temptation would have taken this direction...
I could never thought I would have loved Ash more than before!
I could never thought I would have loved Dylan!!!
And I definitely could never guessed i would have seen my baby 😍😍😍

Temptation was not what I expected... it was better!!
There are so many things, details, scenes, emotions...i don't even know where to start!!

The whole Ash/Dylan/Skylar relationship was freaking amazing 😍😍
Seeing Ash and Dylan together?! I swear my little black heart skepped  a beat 😍😍
But Leila didn’t magically make them fall in love with each. Their relationship is still a working in progress. It’s evident through the reading and it’s believable.
That’s why it works.
Page after page we come to know better Skylar, Ash, and especially Dylan. He was the really surprise of the story.

In this second chapter the author show us how deep run the monstrosity in Winworth.
And let me tell you it’s
really f*cked up!!
But the complexity of the story is something that goes beyond the  Secrets of Winworth series.
Leila created an interconnected world that freaking amaze me because....how the hell she came up with all of that?!
I'm damn impressed...
And as in Temptation the network of deceptions, secrets, depravity begin to show itself, i can’t help but wanting to know what gonna happen next.... because after that ending i'm about to lose my mind
🤯🙈

Once again L.K Reid prove me how talented she is (and how much evil her mind is despite her cute appareance 😜🤣).
And i'm all in for whatever she gonna come up in the future 😌

Welcome to Winworth, where all your most feared nightmares come true. Who’s going to save you from the Order? Lies, deceits and forbidden feels are at stake in this twisted fascinating tale. Leila will mercilessly mess with your head and you won’t just love it, you will be drunk with pleasure craving more of what she masterfully weaves with her bewitching words. We get answers to questions raised in the previous opus, secrets come undone and truths shine, and just when I thought I had everything figured out the author pulls a new trick on me and I’m plunged back into oblivion and mystery.

Is this book for everyone? Nope, not at all, so make sure to read the warnings and be prepared. But if this story is totally up your alley, don’t miss this tempting journey.

I wouldn’t normally describe myself as a lover of ménage, I totally enjoy the filthy part and all the smut 🔥 but I’m always left in doubt when it comes to feels… well, I’m calling myself a liar because there is no other way I could see this working, Ash Dylan and Sky belong together period 💙. Thank you Ms Reid for making this happen. What does that say about me? If an author puts her pen to paper to create something well written, magical and perfect I can be sold into anything 🔪
Now, on to the painful part… that cliffy really slayed me with no mercy 🥺

“My soul crumbled, cried, screamed, and shattered, touched by filthy hands, clawed by monsters surrounding me.”

She’s done it again. She’s just left me hanging off my chair 😂 literally.
Little review. As I just finished and it’s fresh in my mind.
I’ll be honest this wasn’t what I expected at all. Before the book was released I thought how is this going to plan out.? @authorlkreid put her creative mind to work and came out with another great book.

Parts turned my stomach, some parts put the biggest, I mean the fucking biggest smile on my face. I won’t say too much but she gave me what I’ve been craving for over a year.!!
This world is connected to the Sons of Hades MC club.!! Yes I saw my man Atlas 😭 well read lol…. Oh and devil herself Ophelia with her very angry Storm, yes he’s fucking pissed at her.! 😆
Best surprise EVER. Just what I needed.

______

The plot went into a direction I thought wasn’t possible… but LK turned MF in MMF and it was hot, something completely new from her and it’s something I need more of. The romance is kind of slow burn, it has to be. Skylar doesn’t know her feelings yet and Dylan is her brother kind of, he has done things she can’t imagine, he crosses the line big time and then there Ash…. A guy so torn between the woman he loves, his demons in his head. The feelings he has and then the revenge he wants against The Order. The ordering being a secret organisation who follower a man, who actions and mind it sickening.

I felt like Temptation is just the beginning. This was Ash, Dylan and Skylar finding their way with each other and the world they found themselves to be involved in. A very twisted world. The secrets of Winworth and lies told just unravel in this book, all the questions you had after Apathy start to make sense in this book but they don’t get resolved completely. NO Things start to pile up. Things burn. Your heart will hurt reading this. I really recommend reading it.

I don't need them to save me. I need them alive.

Spoilers ahead

First I just wanna say how excited I got when I realized LK Reid was connecting The Rapture series characters and some of the plot with Secrets of Winworth series! It also relieved me immensely to see Storm surviving the cliffy of Equilibrium. Can’t wait to see how Kane got involved with Cillian Nightingale and I’m curious to see if his brothers will make an appearance in SoW book 3 and if there will be some drama/fallout with Storm, Ophelia, and Kieran that we’ll get to see.

I loved how this series ended up being MMF. You could feel the main characters’ attraction and pull to each other. The guys fought it because of their upbringings but at a certain point you just gotta say $&@! it and live for yourself instead of the people around you and I’m so glad they did. The steamy scene with the 3 of them together was 🔥🔥🔥 and I wish there was more than one. REALLY hoping we get LOTS more of that in book 3 cuz oh lord! 🤤

Skylar is finally done effing around and I’m so here for it! Her big take a stand moment at the end was *chef’s kiss* 😘 I just hope she doesn’t regret it after finding out her guys aren’t dead like Judah claimed because all those people deserved what they got. Skylar may have taken down a few Red Maidens but sometimes you gotta sacrifice a few to save the many, I know that’s not what Skylar was thinking at the time because she wasn’t in her right mind due to grief but hopefully she comes to that conclusion too.

This series has taken some surprising twists and turns and I’m super excited to see where it goes. I’m really rooting for Skylar, Dylan and Ash to come out of this on top and take The Order and Judah down without losing too much along the way. Loved Temptation even more than Apathy. Sometimes it felt like Apathy was a little slow but something was always happening in Temptation, keeping me engaged and making sure it was hard to put the book down. I was super disappointed when it ended.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

A twisted, dark, monstrous story that completely blew my mind!

What a lusty, dark tale this was. Skyler is torn between two men, a man she's known her entire life, a man she now knows is a monster, but how does she separate the man from the monster?

AND

A man who came to town, made her fall for him, only to find out she's been used as a pawn in his own wicked games, but tell that to her traitorous heart.

The two men also have demons whispering in their ears and it's delicious and wonderful and who knew these two guys would be so smoking hot, especially when they both love Skyler so very much. (fanning myself)

This book is still full of Winworth secrets, but it focuses more on the three main characters; Skyler, Dylan, and Asher and their evolving relationship. I loved delving deeper into how they came to this dark point in their current lives and how they move forward as a tortured triangle.

Why tortured? Well, try growing up with all the secrets and lies like these three did, each with different monsters whispering in their ears. Think of Winworth like living on a giant chessboard, each of them a pawn being moved around, but instead of finally being moved by someone else, their circumstances brought them all together and they are finally taking back control.

Temptation is super dark, which has been a central theme since the beginning of this series, but this story delves into a complicated relationship revolving around three people. Three monsters who have an extra layer of want and need rolling between them with an ever evolving plot and showing that even monsters need love.

There will be no spilling secrets from my lips, as a lot comes out in this book and there is still more to come. I'm excited for more darkness and what Reid will bring as this plot continues to unfold.

“Brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.”

I am speechless with everyting that happened in this book, seriously. Never in a million years I would have expected for the story to go this way, I’m impressed. I won’t deny that I was kinda scared when Leila told us it would be MMF, but I’m in love with the three of them; Dylan, Ash and Skylar still have a lot to do on terms of their relationship, but is clear that they care about each other (even if one of them can’t see it yet). We learn more about Dylan here, and it was fantastic, his point of view was raw, I really felt it.

The universe, hell, sensational. This book is here to show us how the deprevaty of Winworth is so much more than what we imagined. In Apathy I would say we have more graphic scenes about the really dark side the city hides, but in Temptation we have a game of power that gives us some clues on everything that await us, and it’s not pretty. All these secrets and the mystery drove me crazy, so good and so wrong, I loved it.

I wasn’t prepared for this book, but I am more than happy (and surprised) with everything that happened so far, looks like Leila heard my prayers! The appearence of some characters here are SUPER important and I can just imagine what the future holds. The first half of the book I was crying and the other half I was crying and screaming and sobbing, I was having a fucking heart attack and you guys have to read to find out why!!!

It is no surprise that I've jumped into book two of this series, especially after the cliffhanger at book one.

I'll say it on repeat. Make sure to check TW. They are there for a reason.

Just as the first instalment on the series, this book starts heavy. You had your suspicious, especially after what Sky went through, but it's still not easy to read some parts.
Because it's book two, I'll try not to reveal too much. This one is probably even more twisted and tangled than APATHY, lol. I definitely enjoyed the new dynamics between the main characters. It was interesting to see the awakening in all of them and accepting what they desired ❤️‍🔥

Yet, again, after all the füčkery we were served with a cliffhanger lol and now I'll have to patiently wait for the announcement of book three 😁 I'm seriously counting on you @authorlkreid 😉 hopefully it won't be too long 💙

THIS WAS BRILLIANT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I loved Apathy (the first book in this series) and now Temptation has almost topped my love for it.

The world building for Winworth and the surrounding areas is brilliant. Reid has managed to set up such a clear picture for the depravity that takes place in the town Winworth, in such a short amount of time and that itself is such a talent.

Skylar, Ash and Dylan further saw more progression in their stories throughout this book, which I highly enjoyed.

DYLAN oh my, I loved him from the short glimpses we saw of him in Apathy and the more i found out about him in Temptation made me love him even more. The switch in focus for Skylar in Temptation, is also very refreshing. She is such a bad ass character who has made the best of the shitty card she’s been dealt in life.

I am also loving the cross overs in characters from the Rapture series, as I adore Ophelia and Storm. So it is so lovely to see them both making appearances.

Overall, if you haven’t read this series, or any of L.K Reid’s books I highly suggest you pick one up. As her style of writing is magnificent and there is not one book of hers i haven’t enjoyed reading.

(I received an ARC of this book.)

Winworth Pulls You In Deep
5 stars
When you are poisoned throughout your whole life, your body starts adjusting until it becomes one with the poison that tried to kill you.

LK Reid just doesn’t know how to not completely rock your world. Temptation is full of unpredictable choices fueled by overwhelming passion that just entraps a character like no other. There’s a deep darkness in Winworth, and everyone is a little depraved in their own way. And LK Reid makes us readers willing to bleed for more of it.

I’ll be the first to admit I was a little torn by the dynamic that was formed between Ash, Skylar, and Dylan. But as the story progresses, you see the way that they truly need one another. They each offer something that the other person is missing, that the other person needs. But deep down, my heart lies with just two of them together, if there is ever a choice. But, with the way these three were written for one another, I don’t see that happening.

Secrets are still being unearthed. Secrets that are enough to shatter a person, but if you ever read a character written by LK Reid before, you know they’ll pick themselves right back up, even if they don't want to. But these secrets reveal just how much of a pawn these three are in this town. Monsters use and abuse them in ways that just hurt your soul. Betrayal continues to fester in this town.

The twists and turns are never ending. And seeing certain characters from the Rapture series making their way into the lives of Ash, Skylar, and Dylan, brings this story tenfold. It adds to the level of danger. And, you also see where the lives of the characters in the Rapture series are and how affected they are from previous actions. Temptation is ever evolving into a world full of misfortunes and the ending leaves off on a cliffhanger that’ll make you want to throw yourself over, but it just leaves you aching for the next book. Temptation is full of exactly that, and I’m desperate for more.

L K Reid let the darkness and depravity of Winworth run riot and drown out any flicker of light. The youth in this town were born in the dark and baptised in obsidian, their souls if they're left are barely holding on.

Sky drowns in pain, her pain, her friends pain and their pain. Those who were meant to protect her have done nothing but hurt and lie to her. The weight of the lies and betrayals comes crashing down on her spectacularly and truths bleed through the cracks in the iron facades everyone wears. Her heart is pushed and pulled and finally finds a home where it beats for love but can it survive the dark.

Ash rises from the dark like an avenging angel as he wades through the darkness and lies that surround them all. His own journey is one of truth and acceptance, the way he embraces his truth self and has the confidence to go after what he desires makes you fall even more in love with him.

Dylan goes from the son of the devil to a broken, haunted soul of the verge of shattering to dust. The insight to his agony and pain will crush your heart but his love for Sky shines brighter then the sun. His character arc on this book has made my heart beat for him.

This book emerses you in the darkness if their world as they fight to escape the demons that haunt it. The only light is in the form if the love they share for each other but when that flickering flame is snubbed out the devil's daughter will rise to burn the world in the image of her agony.

The closing chapters of this book take you on a rollacoaster of emotional torture and will leave you with your heart in your mouth desperately seeking your next breath.

“Sometimes a monster is just a victim that didn’t have anyone to save him.”

OMFG!! Temptation goes way beyond where I expected the story to go. I had no idea that things would progress this way and I am just blown away by it right now! Not only am I shocked with what transpired right before my eyes, I am in a state of utter speechlessness after finishing this masterpiece. The poignant word weaving brought out all kinds of emotions from me while reading. I laughed a little, I cried a bit, and I definitely gasped out loud and held my breath right to the very twisted ending.

Temptation gets a whole hell of a lot darker, definitely more twisted and is filled with layer upon layer of unimaginable corruption and wickedness, which kept me completely riveted to my seat unwilling to look away. I have bitten every fingernail down to the skin over the intense anticipation of what was going to happen when I turn the next page. The imagery and graphic wording made the story come to life and all the emotional turmoil, angst, anger and pain just oozed off the pages.

Brilliantly written story with such complex and damaged characters that you can’t help but love even when you try not to, and with a storyline that is shockingly depraved, violent, emotional, bloody and damn sexy. I loved every deliciously dark second of it and can’t wait for the next book!

This is a continuation of the events that take place in Apathy.

The catacombs - a place for those to come to live and to die. Blood will be shed and human sacrifice isn’t off of the table, and Dylan, Skylar and Ash are all tied into the catacombs in one way or another. The town in which the catacombs reside, Winworth, holds many secrets, often with blood spilled. Without spoiling anything, we learn how our trio are tied into the catacombs and what it means for them down the line. Will Skylar, Ash and Dylan survive what the town has to offer?

——-

L.K. Reid delivers another fantastic book. After reading Apathy and How Our Hearts Break, she manages to envision characters and puts them on paper in a way that we genuinely care about them. Skylar, Dylan and Ash - all different, yet connected in a very messed up way - are complex characters looped into this world that is bad for them.

The town of Winworth is dark and has rich historical properties. The families that live there have always lived there and will always live there until their lineage can no longer be passed on. It’s a town that you’re scared to drive through when you get lost getting to a bigger city. The shadows are always present, but what’s scarier are the monsters that hide within them.

I loved the dynamic between Ash, Skylar and Dylan. As this book progresses, so does their relationship with one another until they need each other to breathe. Skylar’s men, her protectors, her rock shelter against the town of Winworth - I just adored them all.

A lot of action takes place in this story and the characters start revealing themselves and their intentions more - I enjoyed that. The quiet and meek character starts getting their footing and the character you hate starts to become the one that you care about. While some just remain the perfect balance of both good and bad.

Another great story to add into the Winworth mysteries and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Please check triggers before reading this 🖤

Like the first one, this again was another masterpiece 😭 the plot twists are insane. They work so well with the book, both books within this series are written SO WELL.
Ash was already added to my book boyfriend list, Dylan gets a firm position on there too. I’ll even add Skylar onto there aswell. Again, I don’t want to say to much because I don’t want to ruin this series for anyone but I am absolutely lost for words / blown away. This has quickly become one of my favourite dark duets I’ve read!

However, on a serious note. I almost had a heart attack from the cliff hanger from book one. THIS ENDING. I’m going to need counselling or a therapist. Or both. Maybe even a priest thrown in to do a exorcism because I feel like a part of me has died and come back to life 😵‍💫🙃

What a book, after reading Apathy and how it ended. I was desperate to get my hands on Temptation.
Kicks off right where Apathy left off, and I just couldn't put it down.

Without spoiling it, this has everything I love about a book. Dark, twisted romance. With loads of twists and plots.

I have to say I liked Skylar better in this one, I loved that she was fighting back.

The boys Ash, Dylan, Kain and Rowan I loved reading them. Getting to know Dylan better in this and what he went through was tough to read. But you have a more understanding on why and who he is.

That ending though. Man. I need book 3.

Oh man I have been waiting on this book to come out and let me say that it was so worth the freaking wait. This picks up where Bk1 Apathy left off at and it didn't stop till it got to that bomb Leah drops on that cliffhanger ending. I tell you if there ever was a girl who could get herself into more trouble her name would be Skylar even though she thinks she is doing the right thing she has to understand when people are trying to kill you that you don't go off by your da self. This town of Winworth has so many secrets that were revealed it had my mind reeling and wanting that father of Dylan's to get what's coming to him...painfully. I don't want to give things away you just have to go in blind and get ready for the wild ride that this arthur takes you on because it's a doozy... one secret, one lie at a time. I would highly recommend reading, but beware this book has triggers as it's dark. Oh and dare I say that mmf scene was chef's kiss🤌 hot as a mf'r🥵

ʰᵒᵖᵉ ʷᵃˢ ᶠᵒʳ ᶠᵒᵒˡˢ, ᵃⁿᵈ ⁱ ʷᵃˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᵇⁱᵍᵍᵉˢᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ ᵒᶠ ᵗʰᵉᵐ.

I am obsessed with these characters! This is a *dark* dark romance, and if you have triggers, you’re definitely going to want to check them. The author will push your limits. This book picks up right where Apathy left off, and the intensity is all still there.

I loved the emotional toll this book took. It is not shy about dragging you down into the dark and gritty depths with the characters, and the author doesn’t skim over the emotions. The highs, the lows, they’re all written so you are consumed by them.

Skylar is damaged, hurt, betrayed, but not broken. Her determination to destroy those who have hurt her really kept me going through the dark moments, and I loved the relationships that she made.

The secrets and twists were done so well, you don’t know who you can trust or who the enemies are.

I don’t want to give anything away, but this book was amazing. So excited to see where the journey takes me next!

Oh wow, what an incredible read! This is book two and picks up right where Apathy left off. You have to read book one first as this is not a standalone. This is a dark read, so make sure you pay attention to the trigger warnings. Without giving anything away, I will say that the story is so full of twists and turns with many lies starting to come to light. I enjoyed Dylan the most in this book. I would certainly recommend reading. I received an advanced reader copy and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

4.25 Stars!!

As soon as i reached the end of Apathy i couldn't wait for more! I started looking forward to this second installment right away. I picked it up as soon as i could. I got right back into the Secrets of Winworth world! I really enjoyed this second installment!

Skylar's journey continues! I wasn't sure what all was going to happen next with her, Ash, and Dylan and that had me even more glued to this installment. I really liked how this world and it's characters hooked me so quickly.

These characters had me feeling so dang much throughout! It was so awesome being back in this world again! There's such a unique darkness to it that pulls you in and keeps you on your toes. Once again, i could picture it all so clearly.

With Temptation, Ms.Reid has created such a great and addictive continuation! I can't wait for more from her! Don't miss out on the Secrets of Winworth series! 💙

Temptation is the second book in the Secrets of Winworth series and picks right up where Apathy left off. I never thought I would fall in love with Dylan after what he did, but it's happened. Everything Dylan did was out of love and to protect Skyler, but when he finds out the truth of her Hell, it only fuels his rage for everything his parents have done and this is the start of a war.

The secrets that have been kept all around from Sky start to come out, and they change EVERYTHING.

I can't even touch on the relationship between Dylan, Ash and Sky because I didn't see it coming and it was absolutely intoxicating.

Back to Winworth we go to the town of so many dark secrets and L.K. absolutely delivered in Temptation.

Full of so many twists and turns throughout the entire book, what a ride it was. It left me needing the next book like now.

The building in this series is absolutely phenomenal, dark and twisted and you just never know what’s going to pop off next.

The dynamic between Skylar, Ash, and Dylan was something I had no idea we would need but here we are it was delicious watching them need one another the way that they did.

The cards these 3 have been dealt their entire life are showing such strengths and growths throughout the book and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Playing with fire

The burn in this book is steaming. Not just a passionate burn but a scorned burn. So many secrets kept from Sklyar. They expose themselves in such painful ways. All of her friends and family have been telling false truths her entire life. Dylan might be her salvation, but Ash will be both of theirs savior. Dark and twisted this book reads. I expected nothing less from this fabulous author.

Holy darkness. Twist and turns, thinking you know what’s going to happen next and then being proven wrong. Keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to ending.

This is book two in the secrets of winworth series and WOW. The first was so good but this one just had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was who and what was what.
This picks up right after the events of book one so you absolutely should read these in order. All our sick, twisted and desperate characters are back in this mysterious town. Skylar is starting to see the monsters more clearly- family or not, she isn’t safe and the two men in her life want to protect her. But can Ash and Dylan secure her safety while not giving into the depravity and temptation the town of Winworth offers.?
