I received an ARC of this book and this is my own honest review.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The storyline was easy to read and lighthearted with a little angst.
It was full of sexual chemistry, very spicy scenes, great banter, good friendships, close family and a very funny mum!

A happy ending
I loved Dr Cutie and Officer Handsome’s story. It was sweet with a large dollop of spice on the side.

This one was funny and super cute. If you love a ROMCOM add this one to your list. It is the second book in the series but it could also serve as a stand alone. I read and enjoyed the first one as well.

Wanna read a story about a sexy cop and a sassy vet basically fucking each other's brains out but at the same time keeping things casual between them..? If yes is your answer..then please keep reading.
This is the story of Jenna and Mark. She is a vet and he is a cop. They meet each other randomly when Mark takes a stray kitten to her clinic. There is chemistry between them almost immediately.
They started to spend more and more time together but Mark was quite certain that he didn't want a relationship. He had these tall, thick walls raised around him so Jenna couldn't reach him however hard she tried.
As for Jenna? Even though she knew Mark's opinion about what they would have if they gave in to their passion..she wanted it. She wanted him and didn't care about labels. Also..she was horny. Because he was making her horny. So they had to scratch each other's itch no? 🥵
After their first sexy night together...fuck..that girl basically rode him even though he tried to warn her that if they fucked nothing would change about the whole "relationship" thing. Yeah yeah Mark you don't do relationships. We got it. 😒
Some general comments about the book.. :
1. "What was his name again? Fred? George? Ron? " 🤣 Loved the Harry Potter vibes ♥️
2. Ummm...Kat must love office sex and I'm here for it 🙌 Her first book had a SCORCHING HOT office sex scene and this one had a sexy one as well.. 🤭
3. The story is quite steamy. It is explicit and the heroine is VERY vocal when she's having sex. I really liked that. But..in my opinion the sex scenes in the first book were a little bit more steamier. 🙈
4. Give.Me.Spanking! 🙌 It's one of my favourite things in steamy books. I wish Mark spanked Jenna because he wanted to do it by himself and because it was making him horny. Her recommending it and him asking her twice if that is what she wants...was kinda a turn off for me. 🥺
Overall? I'd say that I definitely enjoyed it. The sex is not the central theme of the book so there is a very interesting storyline as well. If you'd like to know how this casual thing ended for Jenna and Mark..then you only need to read this story. ♥️

Mark and Jenna have always thought that they weren’t relationship people. They’re married to their jobs and that has made them happy. They don’t have to worry about when they finish work, work catastrophes that keep them long hours, no one for the other to depend on. Sounds uncomplicated right ? And kind of lonely if you ask me.
Mark is a cop with superstitions, who walked into Jenna’s life with a kitty that needed help. This one act begins the ride of giggles, misunderstandings, hot sex, moving in when a emergency happens, and feelings are caught. But…neither wants to cop to it. I loved this book. I laughed, Kat made me cry when both of them got in the way of their own happiness, and cheer when they found their HEA. Absolutely a light hearted one click romance that will keep you up for a few hours as you binge read.

I loved this story! It had it all, lots of laughter and heat. Jenna is a Vet who is quirky and spouts off random facts and rambles when she gets nervous. She is impossible not to fall in love with. Mark is a cop who, with his tattoos and large body goodness, seems like a tough cookie to crack. The chemistry between these two is instantaneous and jumps off the page. However, they each have their own issues and have a lot to work through. A kitten put in their path brings them together, their chemistry may light them on fire, but boy is it an amazing blaze! This story made me laugh out loud and fan my face! Such a great read.

Love the instant chemistry between Dr. Cutie and Officer Handsome! Such great banter and fun dynamic that instantly hooks you. A police officer with muscles for days that cuddles a little kitten and does the littlest and sweetest things?! Totally swoon-worthy! A vet who is part owner in a clinic and goes out of her way to save animals while maintaining solid friendships?! Total boss lady moves! All in all another great story by Kat Long and another great addition to the Southern Charms series!

This second installment of the Southern Charms series was so worth the wait!
Jenna is the local vet, Mark is a local cop.
They meet when Mark finds a kitten that needs a bit of looking after, and the attraction is there instantly.
The nicknames they have for each other (Officer Handsome & Dr Cutie) are perfect and so cute! I love a nickname.
There's miscommunication, steam, random facts, and swoon worthy moments, and of course a HEA in this story.
I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next Southern Charms story!
A solid 4.5⭐s for me, and I definitely recommend both in the series so far ❤

By Your Side has a sexy cop, a quirky vet and a whole lot of steam! I couldn’t put it down! I loved watching how Mark and Jenna fell for each other, their chemistry and the hilarity that ensued.
I would highly recommend Kat Long’s book for anyone who wants to laugh out loud with lots of steam!

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy and let me tell you this was one crazy ass slow burn. I wont say much because I always give everything away 🙄. Officer Handsome had real life issues and was handled perfectly in this book. Jenna aka Dr cutie dealt with so much stress and she truly dealt with it all like a champ. I loved how the others were included in this book as well. I cant wait for the other books in this series.

By Your Side is book 2 in Kat Long’s Southern Charms series. This book is an interconnected standalone so you don’t have to read the previous book, but the main characters are introduced in book one. This book is told in dual POV and is Mark and Jenna’s story.
I really enjoyed this book. Great plot, amazing characters, laugh out loud moments, insane chemistry, adorable animals and all the feels. Jenna is my spirit animal! I loved all of her random facts, such a fun touch. She’s quirky and fun but also a hard worker and crazy dedicated to helping animals. Oh Mark - the very definition of an Alpha Marshmallow! He’s the best of both worlds. He’s a tall, tattooed hot policeman, but he’s also an adorkable sweetheart that is dedicated to his family and always willing to help those in need. Their chemistry from the start was holy cannoli hot and I loved the slow burn feel of the story. I love a good friends to lovers romance and watching Mark and Jenna circle each other was such a fun read. This relationship was very relatable. I think the best part of this series is the secondary characters and I absolutely love the friends Jenna has. The group texts are still as funny as the first book. Phoebe is absolutely adorable, but I do have to say Mark’s mom is probably my all time favorite! Two words - D!ck… Topiary… Trust me you will not regret picking this book up! Great job Kat!

A Bubba who reads romances
This second of the Southern Charms series is just as good if not better than the first one. Kat has created a wonderful group of friends who have each other's back and only want to see each other not only happy but live their best life. Jenna and Mark have insane chemistry,with his superstitions, her quirks they fit together like pieces in a puzzle. The steam and heat are off the chart. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her talent and creativity in print. She writes in an easy style where the pace of the story just flows.

I really enjoyed Mark and Jenna’s story. It was a great vacation read with lots of steam and banter.
I loved how Jenna had a quirky nature and was full of so much hope and love while Mark was super grumpy and closed off. Although they seemed like polar opposites they were perfect for each other. Their push and pull made for extra angst and combustion. The sweetness, the heat, all the good stuff and then some.

Jenna and Mark meet when he takes a kitten to her vet clinic that he rescued during his job as a police officer. The two of them consider themselves married to the job, but when they meet, there are instant sparks. While they fight it and deny it through a large part of the story, they do both have issues that they need to work through. When they are forced into living together, the sparks explode and they have to decide what to do with the aftermath. Could this really be endgame for Officer Handsome and Dr. Cutie?

This is the second book in the southern charm series by Kat Long. It is a F/M love at first sight book. I love how thw author tied in the characters from the first book into this book. The story was good and this author has a sense of humor great descriptive words in the first book but this one, one of the side characters rage-knits and shapes topiaries into x rated body parts to spite a neighbor. It was a good read!

I can't say I enjoyed it as much as Book #1 but it was an easy read. I could totally see a series about the other 3 brothers.

I’ve loved all of Kat’s books, but this one has to be my favorite! I loved the main characters and their quirks and chemistry. The supporting characters are hilarious, and the story is solid and fast-paced. Couldn’t ask for anything more! Except the next installment…. Can’t wait for Addison’s book!
