Publisher's summary

Kenna is a human in a magic-biased world, but a night at the club changes everything.

There she meets four sexy strangers who unbind the magic she never knew she had. Now, she needs their help to train her wild and unpredictable magic and to find the truth of who she really is before someone she loves gets hurt. She is tormented by events in her past, and the secret she has guarded for so long threatens to destroy everything.

This a slow-burn reverse-harem book. This contains scenes and references of abuse some listeners may find triggering.

Smirk Much?

DNF 20-25 min into book.
Firstly, unless she’s narrating dialogue, the narrator’s cadence is too annoyingly similar to William Shatner’s, with a hard pause / near full stop after EVERY bloody word. It is distracting and disgusting.
Secondly, the author needs to learn about synonyms and to employ them. Why are the characters only able to smirk? Doesn’t anyone smile/grin/beam/sneer/look smug anymore? I joke not, at the point in the book where the female MC is on the dance floor with her best friend and the four guys, nearly every sentence mentioned one of the characters smirking! Does the author even know the definition?? It’s not a friendly expression!! It’s used to show bloody contempt, you dolt!
Smirk
verb (used without object)
1. To smile in an affected, smug, or offensively familiar way.
Noun
2. The facial expression of a person who smirks
Thirdly, who bloody cares what EVERY person is wearing??? Does the author not have a plot to get to or is the necessity of fashion the author’s means of adding pages to a short story?

Between those three glaring issues and the utter lack of character depth and cheesy storytelling, I do NOT recommend this book or the author.

Well, yikes.

This was probably one of the hardest stories I’ve ever listen to, but I wanted to finish it so I could write an honest review. The story was really bad; very jumpy, predictable and crazy unrealistic in every way. The charters were not very defined and I was still confused about who was who with the men at the end. But the only thing worse than the story was is the readers. It was almost as if Siri and Alexa was reading it out loud. Every character sounded exactly alike or they sounded like a valley girl. And the main charter cry’s soooooooo much. By the end, the story was just cringey and I kept checking the time to see when it would be over.

Weak female Character

The premise is good but the female heroine is an annoying, crybaby why me, waste of words character that has every been written. The voice of the narrator doesn’t help. There are no redeeming qualities to the main character. I listened to the whole thing because I paid with a credit…what a waste of time.

Needs new female narrator

Female narrator is horrible on the male parts and makes me cringe. The male narrator does well and the story is the only reason I kepy listening.

Great world building

Loved this story! Always a fan of a strong, determined FMC and when the guys of her growing harem are all so unique. I enjoyed seeing how each of the guys helped her in different ways and I can’t wait to see how their story continues.
The only complaint was when the female voice actor did some of the guy voices, it was kinda stilted and off. But overall, loved it.

Narration had me ending the book early

I feel like this is probably a pretty good book and a good read but unfortunately the narrator was irritating me and I couldn’t finish it. She has a beautiful voice but I could not stand how she was portraying other characters or the cadence of her speech. It just rubbed me the wrong way and I couldn’t finish the book.

Ugh…just ugh

I only made it about an hour before I couldn’t take the female narrators voice. As someone else said her William Shatner style is SO annoying. Also the writing style is just cringeworthy with all the smirking and feeling things “deep in my core”.. ugh

Monotonous story with the worst female narration

I made it to almost the end, then just couldn't even finish it. Nothing happens in this book, just training and blah blah blah 😑. The female narration was absolutely awful and it's her robotic voice and reading for 85% of the book! Troy was awesome but it was bery few very short bits for him, and pretty much just the guys thinking about the girl.
So bad narration with a worse story. Thank God it was free, don't waist your time like I did.

Haven't finished but narrator review is needed

I am only starting chapter 13 which is about 25% into the book. I find the story to be interesting and I like the characters.
problem is the female narrator. She is narrating the majority at this point and when she speaks for male characters, it is robotic with no emotion. Very distracting. I'm listening at 2.5 times now to try to avoid, but it's still an issue.
In fairness, she narrates very well in regular speaking voice and female characters.
Sadly, finishing the book will be a chore.
