Reckless

Rate this book
Maned wolf shifter Alek Sawyer is a pro at landing on her feet. From being dropped into foster care as a child, to tripping over her hopeless romantic tendencies as a teenager, she’s an omega with no need of an alpha or a pack. With a curvy figure and a mean right hook, she’s also not the omega that most alphas expect her to be.

But Hades, Roman, and Wilder aren’t ‘most alphas.’ When Alek is unexpectedly and irrevocably drawn to the exhibitionist panther, the quiet but firm coyote, and the secretive dire wolf, she can’t help but be reminded of the fairy tale romance she’s always wanted. But when things start heating up, she starts to realize her day dreams are drifting to some darker corners than she remembers. Corners with collars and cuffs and a strong dominating presence.

But her new romance isn’t all kinky games and bdsm parties. Her new alphas come with secrets of their own and lead lives that Alek has never considered for herself. At the end of the day, will their sudden and powerful connection be enough to keep them together?

Or will their pasts, or Alek’s own skeletons, force them apart?

I love a FMC who is curvy and doesn’t care what others think. More FMC should be like her.

Her awkwardness at times was endearing. And her group dynamic with Wilder, Hades and Roman? their scenes are just too scorching for my ereader. I was afraid it would catch fire. I’m trying to decide which of the three guys I want as a book boyfriend.

Definitely recommend for those who like RH, PNR, some kink and MM elements. And I found it rather interesting that she was a Maned Wolf which is a unique choice in a book.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

A little gutted I’m now up to date with this author. Consistent with fun characters not afraid to kill. Alek has a chip on her shoulder and the recklessness to back it up. There’s past and the potential for a lot to happen. I like the three alphas, although Wilder is my favourite. It did feel like Alek bragged a bit about the direwolf and that usually makes targets. Kink with some sweet gift moments. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Ok, where to begin on the journey of sex, love, relationships and intrigue within the shifter community.
Reckless is a shifter novel about a maned wolf Alek; who is an Omega. This in itself  is unusual and i had to actually 'Google' what they are!
That is where it differs from the "normal shifter types".
AJ Merlin totally rips up the premise and delivers her own take on the shifter lineage Alpha, Beta, Omega. She introduces us to different World where the Omegas are 'specifically' there to please and apease the dominant Aplhas.
Alek is not the normal 'Omega' - she is a badass who literally is no ones bitch!
I absolutely loved the relationship between her and 'her' alphas and the lighthearted banter between Alek and her 'brother'.
The one or two things that i didn't particularly enjoy was that it was a slow burn at first and was hard to get into. I think this was because i hadnt read anything like this before; even though i had read a fair few Shifter Novels.
The second bigger issue to me was that Alek is still a mystery despite finishing the novel. You get snippets of info on her, her family and her Alphas but the Author  'skimmed' a lot of information which would have given the reader a better understanding of 1) where did the manned wolf come from? 2) who was her family?
There are plenty of unanswered questions too which i am hoping that the Author will address in the next book assuming this will be a series.
All in all i think this is actually a really good read and worth giving it a go!

Pretty good sweet omegaverse but there wasn’t any knotting I don’t think? Also the foreplay was amazing but after they got together everything was quite vanilla. The heat(the omega heat) was surprisingly mild?

The best parts for me, were the moments between Noah & Alek.

As for Alek and her harem, I thought their relationship was superficial, convenient & weirdly plotted. For example: Her Wilder ‘meet & greet session’ ) or the bdsm scene that came out of nowhere, were part of the many odd & ‘how did we even get here’ moments in the story. It just didn’t flow very well, and I could barely understand what was happening at different points in the story.

The story drew me in from the beginning and was very well paced. Compared to the other omegaverse book I read just before this (Lyric and the Heartbeats by Lana Kole) which moved so slowly and in which nothing much happened, this book just had so much happening, especially with the way each member of the harem was introduced and how her relationship with each one unfolded. I felt like there was never a dull moment. The three men were very different and distinctive with particular personalities, jobs, and characteristics, which I appreciated. They all approach her very differently; with Hades it's slow and subtle, with Wilder it's sudden and explosive, with Roman it's sweet and caring with an edge of kink (restraints/handcuffs). I also liked that Aleks isn't a typical submissive omega, but is feisty and fierce and will fight when pushed.

I was surprised that none of the harem were jealous of each other. They do know each other beforehand, or at least know of each other although they weren't friends. Perhaps it is common in their shifter world to share a mate, and that's why none of them were surprised? This is one thing that really bugged me. The other thing that bugged me was the danger to Aleks which I felt wasn't very well portrayed, in terms of how the danger escalated to its climax. I also thought that the way the Villain acted towards her was unrealistic, considering what the Villain actually wanted from her.

I was also displeased that throughout the story, Aleks resists telling her three mates about her past, and the story ends with her STILL not having told them anything about her family background. The story ends with HEA so I'm not sure if the next book (which is not out yet) will still focus on Aleks and her alphas, or someone else from Prowl (maybe Andi or Ryann). But if it doesn't continue with Aleks and her alphas, then I'm disappointed because I feel that this book is incomplete. As Noah said, you can't build a relationship if you don't open up and be vulnerable about yourself with your mates. And Aleks didn't. In fact, she still holds Hades at arms' length and doesn't really trust his commitment because of his rich and powerful family, who practically owns and runs their city. She doesn't believe that he'd still want her if he knew all about her. So I don't feel confident in their HEA or their long-term relationship due to this unsolved issue.

There are a handful of spelling errors which the editors did not catch, but nothing very glaring, and at least two minor continuity errors. First, where Aleks says she had never ridden in a car other than Noah's, but she had just been in Wilder's car and Roman's car about a night or two ago so that was blatantly untrue. Another continuity issue is when she says she "didn't allow" her alphas to bite her during her heat, when actually she had begged them to do it but they refused because they didn't want to bite and bond her in haste, without first discussing it and making sure she was really okay with it and ready for it. Also I thought her not recognising her heat was ridiculous and stupid because, she keeps saying she's 24 and it's not her first heat, but surely there are warning symptoms when the heat is approaching? And surely the symptoms can't be that different when she goes into heat with alphas in her life compared to going into heat when she's alone and single? I really needed this part to be explained a bit more.

The sex scenes are hot but I felt cheated cos I thought there was going to be MM between Roman and Hades, but they only kiss; also Aleks' heat was largely fade to black except for when she first goes into heat and Hades has to rush her back to his home to take care of her. I liked that he texted Roman and Wilder so that they could all be there for her.

Despite the issues I've laid out in this review, I was thoroughly entertained by this book and read it in one sitting, hence the five stars. I'll be pre-ordering the next one.

Alek is a woman ( /maned wolf) with a big attitude. And I loved her! She is confident and strong, and she stands up for what she believes in. Throughout Reckless we slowly learn about Alek’s past, and she hasn’t had it easy. But it has taught her to stand up for herself and she does that with determination!

When Reckless first starts, Alek is working in a coffee shop, but as an omega, she finds the attitude of many of the alpha customers hard to take. When an opportunity to take a job working with her cousin Noah at the cam studio Prowl comes comes up, she jumps at it. It doesn’t hurt that cam star Hades Ahlleron (who she has a HUGE crush on) works there, either. And when she actually meets Hades for the first time, his scent overcomes her and she virtually loses the power of speech!

Alek has a fairly negative opinion of most alphas and isn’t really looking to find one (or more) of her own. So, when she joined her housemate for a night out at a kink dungeon, she was there just for a night out to spend time with friends, nothing more. But when a casual stroll throughout the place to investigate brings her into the path of yet another alpha with a scent just as affecting as Hades, she finds herself drawn in by him. And so begins her relationship with Roman.

And then because starting something new with two men at once isn’t enough, Alek adds a third. When she goes to the assistance of another omega in need, only to find herself benefitting from a bit of help herself (but she’d be the first to point out that she didn’t really need the help), Wilder comes into the picture. And her trio of alphas is created. Now all she has to do is decide what to do with them!

This is my third AJ Wilder book, and one thing I love about them all is that nothing is off limits, or taboo. I’m not normally a fan of reverse harems or kink scenes, but these topics in AJ Wilder’s books are so calmly handled that I barely notice them as unusual for me. Everyone is accepted, no-one is looked at as being different, and things that would normally be hidden are totally out in the open. Hades is a great example of this – he is a megastar, famous everywhere, with millions subscribing to his content. And how did he get famous? He’s a porn star. A porn star that millions admire and want to be like. I love this aspect of AJ Wilder’s books!

There is quite a lot going on in this book, with side stories for many of the characters going on all around, as well as Alek herself having plenty happening to keep her busy. But underneath it all, there is a really strong undercurrent of old-fashioned romance. The three men in Alek’s life are all (in their own way) treating her like a queen, and the relationship between the three of them builds really sweetly.

I’m really glad that Reckless is the first of a trilogy, as I want to find out what happens to others in the book! Alek’s cousin Noah is at the top of this list, as I really liked him. And Rita, proprietor of Prowl, feels to me like she has real potential for more. I’m looking forward to number two in the Prowl Trilogy!

Thank you to A.J. Merlin for sharing a copy of this e-book with me.

Reckless is a why choose, shifter novel about an Omega maned wolf Alek and her Alphas Wilder, Hades and Roman. The story was a bit of a slow burn at first but once the steam started it was sizzling hott. I enjoyed seeing how each member of her harem was introduced and how their relationship unfolded. I loved that Alek was a curvy Omega who was feisty and fierce and her guys were all completely different from each other but they all treated her like a queen. This well written tale gave us drama, action, suspense, steam, emotion and angst. It was a different take on Shifter romance but was highly entertaining and held me captive until the end. I loved it and would highly recommend it to lovers of paranormal romance.
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, giving each charater their own sound. Her voice was clear and understandable and she infused the right emotion and intensity in the narration. It was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel.

I enjoyed this book so much! It’s a steamy and unique take on a shifter RH. I liked that this story has a bada** omega, who doesn’t bend over backwards for an alpha.

Alek is not your typical omega. She’s fierce and will fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. She’s also not what most alphas are used to.

Luckily for Alek. Hades, Roman, and Wilder are not your typical alphas. The sexy panther, the sweet coyote enforcer, and the enigmatic dire wolf...all intrigue and entice her.

The dynamic between all of them made for some HOT and funny moments. I liked the fast pace nature of the story and I didn’t want the book to end.

Alek is a maned shifter and an omega. She works as a barista, but one day she gets the opportunity to work at the "hottest" company for cam work as an assistant. Her favourite cam boy, Hades, works there, and Alek is always rendered speechless every time she meets him. And Hades might be as interested in Alek as much as she is with him. Alek also meets the dire wolf Wilder and the enforcer Roman, all shifters whose scent attracts Alek.

This is a 3.5 read for me. I really liked how open and accepting to sexual encounters the characters were. There was no shaming, and consent played a huge role throughout the book. I would have given it a higher star review if the storyline wasn't as superficial s it was.

Narration was ok on this one, I don’t think I’m a fan of some voices she uses. The storyline itself was good. 4 star listen, I found myself smirking quite often at the wit of the fmc. We have three mates a coyote, panther and a fire wolf. All about the scent in this one. Medium/fast burn with no real background as to why they want each other love word is used. FAST. You can end this book here with no cliffhanger but I’d continue to hear more of the background.

Reckless by AJ Merlin is a paranormal reverse harem that I listened to on audio narrated by Allyson Voller. This is the first book in the Prowl Duet.

I absolutely love AJ's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am really enjoying the relationship that is blooming between Alek, Hades, Roman, and Wilder.

I can't wait for the next book Relentless to be released on audio so I can get the rest of their story.

Allyson did a great job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal reverse harem romances.

I bounced between 3.5 and 4 stars for this book. Ultimately, I decided on 3.5 stars. I decided this because 1) I did catch a couple of typos/errors, nothing to major or annoying. 2) Is this a stand-alone book? Because the ending is slightly confusing and abrupt. 3) I didn’t like how the FMC kept her past to herself. What I am trying to say is that I don’t like the idea of building a relationship (a new one at that) with secrets. FMC didn’t have to feel ashamed of her past. I wanted her to trust her males and share about her past, ya know?

Also! Always trust your instincts! If you feel like you are been stalked or something is weird enough for you take notice then you notice and you don’t disregard your instincts!!!!

But the chemistry was hot and the characters were well developed and had unique personalities.

Review is of my own opinion.

Fun and Sweet Omegaverse

This was a fun read. I'm very cautious with OV reads, as I'm not a fan of grooming, heavy dominance, or humiliation themes in my romance. I am thrilled to say we get a fierce Omega fmc in this story, and Alphas who give off a protective and sweet vibe along with their light sexy displays of dominance (primarily in the bedroom). The plot is a little light in this story. There is some mystery around the fmc and her background and a minor drama around whether the guys will still want her when she tells them she doesn't have a proper heritage. I would like a bit of a deeper plot but overall it is a fun and sweet read, with likeable characters.

Omegaverse that has a taste of sweetness but won't give you a toothache. Reckless is a new addition to my list of omegaverse reads, and it's definitely a good option for fans of Kathryn Moon's series, the ones who want those alpha, beta, omega add-ons without the angst, darkness, and dub/non-con that happens between the FMC and the men in a lot of the omegaverse that's currently out there. Now, it's not quite as much of a sweet story as Baby or Lola's, but so far, Alek's men want to do right by her, and they seem like they're going to be a good fit and respect her boundaries, her body, and her feelings.

Alek is a curvier FMC, which is always nice to read about, and I think that while she does have some body image issues, they're at a totally bearable level. Sometimes, with an FMC who is a curvier girl, readers get weighed down with so much internal self-hate that it drags me out of the story. Alek has some insecurities, sure, but they're more about her past and how she grew up or even her attitude than they are about her body type, and that's totally fine with me.

Alek's got some sass, a little bit of a chip on her shoulder (though I can't say it wasn't earned), and she's got to get over some trust issues, but she's flawed enough to be interesting and not too flawed for me to get tired of her. So, Merlin has hit a nice balance with this new leading lady to add to her repertoire, and I think there's a lot of wiggle room to have some great character growth as we get to see more books featuring Alek.

The guys are all likable, and they bring something new to the table as far as shifters go. We've got a big cat, a direwolf, and a coyote, which are definitely not breeds we see a lot. We don't get too much of the shifted forms of our MMCs or FMC this time, but I'm hoping we get to see more interaction with that later. The guys are a good mix to hit the tropes you want and give you secrets to uncover. In fact, I think that's kind of the big word for book one: secrets. Although we get Alek establishing a relationship and a tentative foundation for a future with all three of the alphas, we don't know much about them. Like Alek, they're all holding parts of themselves back, so we get enough of the surface in Reckless to decide if we like the base of who they are, but I was definitely left highly curious.

With Hades, we have this sensual and confident male who's used to being admired. The thing that'll pull you in is that he's also still a bit vulnerable/insecure because Alek doesn't quite know how to handle him. He's a bit larger than life for her to take in, so there's a little bit of delay on their relationship even though he's the first one she meets. Roman is a bit more steadfast, and Merlin lays out a clear dynamic fairly quickly so that readers who like MM and who enjoy there being attraction between the males will see the Roman and Hades have a lot to also offer Alek (uhm, duh, and us) as a package. Wilder is the bit of an outlier, but he's got some of the same wildness and bloodthirst in him that Alek does, and there are some signs that he might be the most empathetic to who she is at her core, which makes him easy to like and want to know more about as well.

I don't know that I'd pick a favorite after book one, which I consider a good problem to have, so no complaints here.

Like Merlin's other series, we have some s*xy times, so we're not left wanting, but the actual relationship part- where you build trust, get to know each other, really confide who you are- is a slower build. So I'd say it's a faster burn on the fiery stuff and a more gradual build into the messy emotional part of their connection. Overall, I really enjoyed this first book, and aside from the epidemic of "we've got some secrets we need to share," I really have no complaints. I was happy to dig into this one, and I'm more than ready for book two :)

I had been eagerly waiting for this book on audio and was so happy to listen to this new world for me! I did not want it to end, I ate it up waaaay too quickly and am hoping book 2 will be coming out on audio as well because I need to know what happens in the finale to this duet! I do have a feeling like most of the story was in book 1 but we had some opened ended questions (like how they will react and how she will tell them about her past and upbringing) and seeing them mated officially and all the good stuff hehe. Almost like an extended epilogue hehe. But again I am super excited and cannot wait to listen to book 2 if that is made into an audiobook ❤️

I loved Alek and her feistiness! She was someone I would want to be besties with haha. I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side, that’s for sure though! She has had to fend for herself and her adopted siblings, especially Noah, and she doesnt take it from anyone haha. She is a loyal friends and loved on though and we get to see into her insecurities, vulnerability, and desires and I rooted for her right away. I love omegaverse and appreciate the paranormal versions and liked the different shifters in this one. I liked her being a different one than normal (as well as her harem/alphas and even her bestie). I hope we get some explanation about her past in book 2, that kinda explains her manned wolf and all that. I adored Noah, he was so cute and sometimes super sneaky hahaha. I enjoyed their banter and relationship so much and hope he has a HEA at some point 😍. I also enjoyed the guys (I think Roman was my fav but some of the stuff Hades did late and more shyly was so endearing). I loved that they worked well together, that Wilder was the one bringing them all together. I think some parts of the story was very over the top but I ignored it and was happy to be in this world, which is why I finished it so quickly 🤦🏼‍♀️. I felt like the stalker aspect and the BDSM aspect could have been stronger, like if you are gong to go there, don’t half-@s$ it haha. Not saying to make it super dark but stalkers would have left notes or more weird stuff and the we get some nice glimpses in the dynamic Alek wants but not a lot, so many book 2 will give us that 😊.

Narration was excellent, I felt the characters alive in my head and the narrator did an amazing job portraying the different guys and ladies and their personalities. So many fun combos with the alphas, betas, and omegas, their shifter personalities, and then all the voices. I couldnt give the audio portion less than 5 stars. I felt the fear when she was confronted by her stalker and the stuff that happened, the relief when she was saved, the love budding between the harem (and the MM in it was 🔥🔥🔥) and Noah’s spunky and quirky personality and his little brother mentality with Alek haha. And the way the narrator brought the storyline to life with their jobs was fun too, added even more dimension ❤️

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILER
My favorite part is when she faces her kidnapper without any fear.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who likes shifter romances, reverse harems, and Omegaversus.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILER
I liked the book I just wish there was a lot less misogyny going on. I like the fact that the heroine wasn't a damsel in distress. She helped people in need despite the fact that she was an Omega. She knew what she wanted and she went for it. The love interests were OK. It was a lot of instant love/lust situations. I really would have liked the love interests to have developed more of a romantic relationship with the main character before they jumped into bed. But this book leans more towards and erotica instead of a romance. Overall, I liked it and it was a unique take on the Omegaverse troupe.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? (If yes, does the author add something unique to them?)
The Omegaversus a very popular troupe. However, the author's main character is a strong Omega compared to the regular weak in timid kind. You'll find this main character taking on alphas even though they are stronger and bigger than she is. There's also the fated lovers troupe.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
The intimacy scenes are very detailed and intense. There's some light kink thrown in there as well as some male on male action.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
The burn level is HOT. A little bit of kink but nothing too crazy.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are three men. Hades-Jaguar shifter and cam star, Roman wolf shifter and police officer, lastly Wilder dire wolf shifter.

Awesome Story & Listen🎧 Fascinating & Smoking🔥Hot!

Reckless
A Prowl Novel
By: AJ Merlin
Narrated by: Allyson Voller
Series: Prowl, Book 1

This fabulous paranormal reverse harem romance novel grabs your attention right from the start and captivates it the entire book. It is my first book written by AJ Merlin and I enjoyed her writing style and am impressed by her creative mind, the story and characters she created are imaginative and fascinating. The storylines are interesting and captivated my attention the entire book, I can’t get enough of these characters and am looking forward to what comes next for them. The omega verse and the world building is fantastic, as is the character development and it is great to see different shifters. Alek Sawyer, the lead female, is a maned wolf shifter, and her foster brother, Noah, is a raccoon shifter, her foster parents took in several types of shifters so she was used to the differences. Alek is an Omega, but she is no ordinary Omega, she does not bow down to just any Alpha, in fact she stands up to them, including her creepy boss Jack. Noah takes Alek to his job at Prowl, she sees Hades, the one she has been crushing on. Then she meets the owner who winds up offering her a job, not as a cam girl but an assistant, thrilled to get away from her creepy boss, she jumps on the opportunity and takes the job. Her life takes another turn as each of her Alphas come in to her life, Hades, a panther shifter, Roman the enforcer and a coyote shifter, and then Wilder, the infamous Dire Wolf shifter. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, action, heartfelt emotions, some angst, thrilling and suspenseful moments and some sizzling romance, reverse harem style. AJ Merlin, thank you for this amazing story and the wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Allyson Voller did an amazing job bringing these characters and their story to life. She covered the roles for both the male and female characters, gave each their own distinct sound, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She had a complete understanding of the character she was portraying and was believable in every role she played. Her take on Alek was perfection, gave her the right amount of sass, confidence and strength, she was just as fabulous in the roles of the Alphas and the secondary characters too. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into her performance, having you feel every single one. Allyson Voller is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Alek is a maned wolf shifter omega, working at a coffee shop where the manager allows alphas to come in and harass the redhead. She hates her job, hates alphas who think that omegas are property to owned, but LOVES her camworker foster brother, Noah.

Thanks to Noah's job at Prowel, Alek is able to get a position as an assistant there. She quits her coffee shop job, much to the dismay of a creeper alpha, Jack. But Alek doesn't have time for alphas who don't understand what consent is.

Instead, she has her eyes set on a certain camworker, Hades Allherone, a panther shifter that works at Prowel, as well.

While at a BDSM party, she runs into another alpha that has her disregarding all of her rules against hooking up with random alphas. Roman, the coyote shifter, and her hit it off, but as soon as he has to leave for a second, Alek takes off. But no worries, he ends up getting his handcuffs back on her pretty soon ;)

Roman is an enforcer, and he has to arrest Alek when she almost kills a bear shifter alpha for hurting another omega. Regardless, sparks are still flying so the two make plans to see each other again while Noah checks her out of jail.

When Alek decides to check on the omega that was being abused by the bear shifter alpha. Luckily she did, because the woman is laid out in her own blood in her bedroom with the alpha pacing around the house covered in her blood.

Alek follows the bear shifter into Heights territory. No one is supposed to wander onto these lands without permission because the Dire Wolf reigns supreme there. While Alek is following the alpha, the dire wolf is following her. Wilder, the dire wolf, kills the bear shifter and is amused when Alek is mad at him for taking her prey. The two go back to his apartment and... work out their issues... ;)

Alek decides that she like Wilder, Roman, and Hades, so she decides to date all three of them, forming her own pack of alphas.

Overall Thoughts: AJ Merlin has been an author I have wanted to listen to for a long time, but when I finally listened to Reckless, I was blown away. I wanted to listen to one of her books so badly, I didn’t even read the blur before diving in, so when I learned it was omegaverse, RH shifter book, it was like winning the lottery, on my birthday, while on vacation. My only disappointment is the second book isn’t on audio…yet (wink wink, nudge nudge, AJ). Alek is unlike any omega I have ever listened to and I am here for it. This was also my second book narrated by Allyson Voller in less than a week and I think she did an amazing job differentiating between all the male voices.

Narration: Solo narration, first-person present tense, single POV

Tropes: shifter, OV, “only fans”, BDSM, s3x clubs, independent FMC, foster child, st@lker, defying designation stereotypes, powerful alphas

Overall: 4.5
Spice: 3.5
Humor: 3.5
Drama: 3
Darkness: 2

Alek is a strong and independent omega, who doesn’t care what society has to say about her designation or that alphas always get the benefit of the doubt and try to intimidate her, she is going to live her life by her terms and doesn’t care who stands in her way, she is determined to make a better
life for herself.

A string of unusual circumstances lead her to meet the three alphas who are unexpectedly drawn to each other. She meets Hades at her brother’s work, when she is hired on as the owner's assistant, she meets Roman while exploring a new s3x club she visits, and she meets Wilder while hunting down an abusive alpha.

The inexplicable draw they have to her, surprises Alek, but when she starts noticing weird occurrences, like the lock to her apartment being broken, wilted flowers being left for her, and a car from a creepy ex-customer popping up in unusual places, her relationships with her alphas become more important than ever when it comes to staying safe.

AJ Merlin I LOVE how you write! You are so good at weaving in so much humor. The banter between Alek and Noah is just awesome and I’m wanting more. I can not wait to find out more about Noah too and his relationship with Alek. I also loved all her guys. Hades, Roman and Wilder are all alphas but they all seem to compliment each other so well especially when it comes to Alek. This is my first omegaverse and I was a little worried I wouldn’t know what was going on and what the dynamics would be but I will say I wasn’t left guessing about the world at all. AJ wrote it so well I didn’t have to wonder at any times how the alphas, betas, and omegas would all interact. Alek is not your typical omega and I love that, she doesn’t just fall over all the alphas or drop to their demands. She stands up for what she wants and what she believes even if it gets her into trouble lol. Although this doesn’t end in a cliff hanger you are still left wondering about Alek’s past and how things will all play out. I still can’t pick a favorite guy yet as I just loved them all! Roman seems like the softer one out of the three and Wilder seems like the one who always speaks his mind and the most ‘alpha’ of them all and Hades feels like a good combo of the two of them, he is a strong firm alpha but also has this sweet side to him. This was a super quick read for me as I just couldn’t put it down! The world was so interesting and I just couldn’t get enough of her, her guys, and Noah! Can’t wait for book 2!!

Thank you to AJ for sending over this book for us to read it's very much appreciated.

I have to start by saying I really enjoyed reading this book, I enjoy reading shifter books but this book was different to what I’m used to reading as normal shifter books I read are just wolves but this one’s different animals and that was really good because with each person you got a buzz finding out what their animal was.

Alek is a strong independent woman who has been through a turbulent past and gained a stepbrother/best friend in the process. Alex is an Omega so lots of Alphas feel they have a right to her but she at the beginning of the story hasn’t met the one yet and is constantly betting away unwanted attention from other Alphas.

Alek ends up falling for 3 Alphas Hades, Wilder and Roman all of these Alphas are strong characters in their own right throughout the book.

This book is fantastic I really enjoyed every part of it. It was different and I really enjoyed that about it. It keeps you on your toes throughout wondering what’s going to happen next and has many comedic factors as well within some of the chapters. I would definitely recommend this book to people so if you haven’t already got this book then you need to add it to your TBR list you won’t be disappointed.

I was two chapters in when I realized I really had been sleeping on this book.

I was four chapters in when I realized I was madly in love with the female main character, Alek.

By chapter 5 I needed a cold shower🥵

Chapter six.... I am FLUSHED. Hoo boy.

I'm about to tackle this author's entire backlog. Welcome to my one-click club because I need this kind of heat in my life on the REGULAR.

Alek is really the OG. Standing up and righting wrongs not her own. She doesn't let anyone push her around, least of all Alphas. And! Her spicy life is beyond my dreams. Like. Yes please. Praise me. Chase me. Punish me. Hot. DAMN.

Wilder, obviously, is my fave because I have a type and it's almost always a dangerous loner🙃

I would absolutely simp for Hades. For so many reasons😅

Roman is amazing and so freaking wonderful to her in and out of the bedroom.

The plot twist was legitimately shocking and crazy. I dont know if I like Hayley. Or Noah for that matter honestly. Something seems amiss.

Also. The book ends with "And no matter what, so long as they felt the same, I wouldn't let anything come between us."

Ma'am. Those are famous last words and you NEED to share your history with the men looking to be part of your future. Things like that are going to come back and haunt you.

Blurb:

3.5 stars not a bad start to a new story.

3.5 stars not a bad start to a new story, but the writing bugs me. It’s written in the past present tenses. So we are reading from our FMC’s POV but she talks about things in past tense. He grabbed my hand, he knocked on the do, rather than present tense. It was somewhat jarring for me because in some places this method works but in others I kept getting tripped up.

The lead up to being stalked didn’t come through too clearly. We could see yes that she was being stalked but no we the audience wouldn’t be able figure out who was behind it because we never saw their interactions.

I found it also annoying that in the group bedroom scene things were glossed over. They all went into the bedroom together and we got details with a couple of the guys but nothing in depth. In general lots of things were glossed over, their initial meeting, their initial conversations etc.

Still the book is decent and the alphas are nice but the world hasn’t been established well enough for me to know what is normal or not.

I will read the next but it needs a bit more.

I actually like the book very much. It was a little unusual. Not in the single parts of the book or the characters. I don't understate, when I say I have read a lot and often things with more worse themes and many with Omegaverse in different forms.

But the combination of things was unique in a certain way. Like, I can't remember a second book where the characters work for an erotic cam business. Or a book with a mane wolf (admittedly, I didn't know that animal at all).

The whole story was entertaining. I had fun reading it. I liked the characters, and their unique ways and traits. Like Aleks awkwardness. And the guys. I loved them. And the dynamic between Hades and Roman.

Not to forget, that the book has a special view on Alphas, Betas and Omegas. Alek is not the typical Omega, with her attitude and reaction between bad Alphas. And I liked that.

Luckily, I waited for the next book. Because at the end and during the story there are left a lot of questions open, and I'm not good at waiting. And I don't like to have breaks between books, so I can't forget details.

So, I will read the next book directly now.

I almost didn't read this one. It was recommended to me and all the reviews looked promising, but the blurb says something about collars and dominance and stuff. I'm really not into that, but I also didn't read anything about it in the reviews. I was glad I read it, the kink was barely there, and not at all the BDSM that I was worried it would be.
Our FMC Alek gets a job as I guess a secretary at the company her (foster) brother works at. This company was a bit a suprise, as is her brother's job. He is a cam boy at Prowl. They don't really explain what it is, but I guess it's the same as a cam girl?
The conversations between Alek and her brother are super funny.
With the guys it's all insta love (or rather insta attraction) and it all goes really fast.
She is a bit insecure about some stuff but she doesn't repeat it over and over again. So it doesn't get annoying.
What I also loved is that there was not to much inner monologue, and no massive information overloads. Most things don't really get explained because they don't need to be.

Alek Sawyer is a sassy Omega who has no problem taking care of herself. When she meets three Alpha’s who want to take care of her, things get interesting! “Reckless” is the first book in the “Prowl” series and it really sets the bar high! The characters are beautifully developed, diverse and interesting! The plot is fast moving, engaging, easy to follow, and perfectly balanced with just the right amounts heat, intrigue, suspense, and “edge of your seat” moments! The dialogue is written brilliantly! Witty banter beautifully combined with perfectly placed sarcasm and snark had me snorting and laughing out loud while other conversations had my heart in my throat and tears very close. All of it brought to life through smooth flowing, authentic sounding, consistent narration. I am really excited to see what the rest of the series brings! Five fabulous stars!

I loved this!! AJ Merlin’s stories are always so fun and full of pure hotness! It was out of the box and so great. I have never read a shifter book with sure a strong badass omega and that is exactly what Alek is! She sticks up for herself and those around her and in no way let’s these alphas run her.
I mean how can you go wrong with a shifter RH romance that is oh so dirty and oh so delicious!!! Hades, Roman and Wilder are just forever HOT!!!! There are so many moments throughout this book that the author had me laughing out loud. You have a great storyline plus some spicy as sin group scenes so hold onto your panties! Alek can tell there is something different about these 3 alphas that she has met but doesn’t understand why since she doesn’t react like she is with any other alphas. Watching the relationships grow between Alek and her men was great. Everything starts out slow and steady but quicky turns into hot and heavy and I am all for it. I hope we get more from this world!!!
